The BLAST Premier Spring Groups is finally here and is expected to be an exciting event at the start of the new year. Twelve BLAST partner teams have been separated into three groups and are each aiming to finish in the top half and qualify for the BLAST Spring Finals in June 2022. So, let’s not waste any time and hop right into the teams set to play in each group.<\/p>\n

BLAST Premier Spring Groups: Teams and Brackets<\/h2>\n

Group A<\/strong><\/p>\n

Group A features G2 Esports, Complexity, BIG, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. However, the biggest story of this group is the debut of G2’s brand-new lineup, with the additions of Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov and in-game leader Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen.<\/p>\n

Additionally, NiP will be entering this event without their star AWPer Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, who has extended his medical leave from professional play. The team will look to overcome these circumstances outside of their control and prove they can still contend with the best. <\/p>\n

Group B<\/strong><\/p>\n

Group B features Natus Vincere, MIBR, Astralis, and OG. Na’Vi returns as fan-favourites to win the entire event and will seek to continue their dominance after a historic win at PGL Major Stockholm over G2 and, more recently, their victory at the BLAST Premier: World Final in December of last year.<\/p>\n

Group C<\/strong><\/p>\n

Group C features Team Vitality, Evil Geniuses, FaZe Clan, and Team Liquid. The group looks to be the most chaotic of the three, as all four teams are debuting new players.<\/p>\n

Vitality appears to be a powerful contender on paper. Still, it will have to get through Evil Geniuses’ entirely revamped roster, featuring the reunited ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018 winners Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip, Timothy “autimatic” Ta, and William “RUSH” Wierzba. <\/p>\n

BLAST Premier Spring Groups: Format<\/h2>\n

As shown above, each of the three groups will play in a double-elimination bracket, with each match being a best-of-one. The placements in these groups will determine the seeding for the play-in stage.<\/p>\n

The play-in stage will feature three single-elimination brackets with best-of-three matches. The winner of each bracket will earn 1,600 BLAST points and qualify for the BLAST Premier Spring Finals.<\/p>\n

Once this is complete, the teams placing second and third in the play-in stage will progress to compete in a set of Last Chance Matches. Each team will play a single best-of-three, with the winner of each match moving on to the Spring Finals and earning 800 BLAST points.<\/p>\n

The teams that lose their Last Chance matches will gain 600 BLAST points and join the fourth-placing teams from the Play-in Stage at BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown in April 2022. These teams will also be awarded 400 BLAST points.<\/p>\n
