By now everyone knows how problematic the release of Battlefield 2042 was.<\/p>\n

The game that was supposed to be a grand return to the glory days of the Battlefield franchise ended up being meme material, criticized for the lack of many staple Battlefield features, questionable design choices, and an abundance of bugs.<\/p>\n

So much has been said already about the mess that is Battlefield 2042 and it is superfluous to repeat that story again. Nonetheless, DICE declared that they are not giving up on their latest game and promised a slew of improvements for 2022, on top of several big bugs-fixing patches in 2021.<\/p>\n

And while big patches are a great thing, many players secretly hoped for a more substantial update that will bring back missing features and make key changes in order to make the game more appealing to the Battlefield community and it looked like those changes will come with Season 1, originally planned to be released in March 2022.<\/p>\n

Now we know that will not be the case, as DICE has announced that Season 1 will be delayed, but we will still get some crucial updates in the meantime.<\/p>\n

DICE, the developers of Battlefield 2042, announced earlier today that they are pushing back Battlefield 2042 Season 1 to “early summer” of 2022, in order to commit more time to bring more urgent changes and improvements, requested by the community the most.<\/p>\n

At the same time, while delivering these improvements they will also work on establishing a more direct “feedback loop” with the player base in order to allow players to have an open discussion with the developers about their design choices and potential balance changes, in the first place about the map design but also about other elements of the game as well.<\/p>\n

And while we will have to wait for a couple of more months for Season 1, the good news is that DICE will bring some much-requested features with the next few updates.<\/p>\n

According to DICE, the main reason behind Season 1 delay is that they are working on implementing some of the key missing features.<\/p>\n

Probably the biggest news is the return of classic scoreboards<\/a><\/strong>, which were omitted in the initial release. The scoreboard will have two separate tables for your team and the enemy, and in some of the future updates, DICE will also add the K\/D ratio and the End of Round reporting system.<\/p>\n

Another crucial addition is voice communication (VOIP)<\/strong> which will be added in the next update. A decision to release a squad-based game without voice comms<\/a> is truly inexplicable, but thankfully, that’s now being changed as well.<\/p>\n

Finally, player profiles are arriving as wel<\/strong>l and they will give players “a better overview of your career on the battlefield and how far you have to go for your next unlock.”<\/p>\n

Some other improvements mentioned in the announcement are “tighter squad loop”, a refined ping system, and some gunplay and specialist changes, but the developers are not yet ready to reveal more details about these changes.<\/p>\n
