The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) proved one of 2021’s most significant revelations in esports competitions. This was due to the remarkable response to its qualifying tournaments, which attracted players from other titles such as CS:GO and Rainbow Six Siege and fans from many other countries.<\/p>\n

The first major international tournament took place in Reykjavik, Iceland<\/a> and proved to be a monumental success, with the best teams in the world competing to become champions in a safe environment amid the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n

Followingly, it is no surprise to learn of the many new reports emerging from the Chinese platform Weibo, indicating that the first Masters tournament for the Valorant Champions Tour in 2022 will take place in the Nordic country once again.<\/p>\n

VCT Masters 2022 is expected to return to Reykjavik, Iceland<\/h2>\n

According to a leaked statement by Valorant Esports<\/a> on Weibo, the VCT Masters Reykjavik 2022 is now set to take place from 10th to 24th April 2022. Indeed, this latest update would schedule the event to start shortly after the Challengers tournaments in different regions are over.<\/p>\n

In the leaked statement, the event’s organisers confirmed the reason was due to the current situation of the pandemic, noting that returning to Iceland would bring “a greater possibility of ensuring the success of the event” without risking the participating teams and players.<\/p>\n

Besides, the response of the pro players and the Valorant community to the first Masters in Iceland was overwhelming. The event was the watershed of everything the competitive aspect of this title would achieve during 2021 after being nominated as the esports event of the year at The Game Awards 2021.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, this would mean that there would be no audience to watch the games on stage once again. However, the publication also states that having a live audience “will continue to be a priority in 2022,” so there is still hope.<\/p>\n

At the moment, Riot Games has not commented on whether the first Masters of the year will take place in Iceland, although looking at all the information available now, it seems it will only be a matter of time before we have official confirmation.<\/p>\n
