Elden Ring features a sprawling open world filled with secrets and dangerous encounters. At its core, it remains a brutally challenging Souls-like experience but with more freedom to explore and assess its unforgiving world.

Dragons are a constant threat that lurks in every region of Elden Ring‘s humungous open world. These are especially challenging encounters with every dragon capable of decimating you in a single shot. One such high-level dragon is Decaying Ekzykes, and here’s how you can easily beat it.

You will come across Decaying Ekyzes in the Caelid region of the game, North of the Cathedral of Dragon Communion. As far as attack patterns go, Decaying Ekyzes works similar to Flying Dragon Agheel and Glintstone Dragon Smarag. However, unlike these Dragons, Decaying Ekzyes doesn’t do fire or ice damage but Scarlet rot, which is arguably the worse elemental damage type in Elden Ring.

If Decaying Ekzyes breathe Scarlet Rot in your direction, then no matter how far away you’re from it, you will die instantly. However, there’s one particular spot in the battle area where its Scarlet Rot won’t reach you even if you’re standing close to it.
