There have been numerous hints, teases, and speculations from Hideo Kojima himself, though nothing substantial that would confirm the existence of Death Stranding 2 until now.<\/p>\n<p>Actor Norman Reedus, who played the role of protagonist Sam Bridges in Death Stranding, has explicitly mentioned or rather confirmed in a recent interview with LeoEdit, that Kojima Productions is working on Death Stranding 2.<\/p>\n<h2>Death Stranding 2 seems to be early in development<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/Vlic1ml3P4H7UctLvDJW_VhzrW2zt8JxMsOuYl91qSU\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMi9kZWF0aHN0cmFuZGluZy9kZWF0aHN0cmFuZGluZy0yLmpwZw\" alt=\"death stranding 2 development\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">Norman Reedus said the development on Death Stranding 2 has just begun. (Picture: Kojima Productions)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Speaking to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leoedit.com\/culture\/norman-reedus-on-the-end-of-an-era\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">LeoEdit<\/a>, Reedus discussed how he got involved with Kojima Productions and the development process of Death Stranding. &#8220;We just started the second one,&#8221; he said on being asked about filming Death Stranding.<\/p>\n<p>He further added, &#8220;It took [him] me maybe two or three years to finish all the MoCap sessions and everything. It takes a lot of work. And then the game came out, and it just won all these awards, and it was a huge thing, so we just started part two of that.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Although a highly anticipated new IP from the newly independent Kojima Productions, Death Stranding had a rough launch, courtesy of mixed reviews from both critics and fans alike.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/playstation-plus-ubisoft-classics\">PlayStation Plus new lineup &#8211; Ubisoft+ Classics, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, God of War, more<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/what-to-expect-xbox-games-showcase-2022\">What to expect at Xbox Games Showcase 2022 &#8211; Starfield, Avowed, Gears of War 6, more<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/xbox-game-pass-may-2022-lineup\">Xbox Game Pass May 2022 lineup revealed &#8211; Jurassic World Evolution 2, Sniper Elite 5, more<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/unreal-engine-5-horror-gameplay-leaves-p-t-fans-in-awe\">Unreal Engine 5 horror gameplay leaves P.T. fans in awe<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Furthermore, rumours suggest that Death Stranding&#8217;s sales didn&#8217;t meet Sony&#8217;s expectations though Kojima debunked those rumours by saying that the game was profitable and recouped its development costs.<\/p>\n<p>While we don&#8217;t know what the development and marketing budget of Death Stranding was, the game has sold over 5 million copies on PS4 and PC as of July 2021. For a new IP, this isn&#8217;t necessarily underwhelming, and as such, a sequel doesn&#8217;t seem too far-fetched.<\/p>\n<h2>Kojima Productions is hiring for a new project<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/XgwacLaA7vp5GurUHlLu77_OcOjQSm7vJveVwK4nP4E\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMi9kZWF0aHN0cmFuZGluZy9kZWF0aHN0cmFuZGluZy0zLmpwZw\" alt=\"death stranding 2 hiring\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">Kojima Productions is currently hiring for its Tokyo studio. (Picture: Kojima Productions)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Interestingly, just hours after the news of Death Stranding 2 broke out, Kojima Productions <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/KojiPro2015_EN\/status\/1527680566874755076\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">took to Twitter to post about job openings for its Tokyo studio<\/a>. While we didn&#8217;t get an official confirmation, this could be the closest confirmation of the fact that Kojima Productions is indeed working on a Death Stranding sequel.<\/p>\n<p>However, Reedus mentioned that the work on the sequel has just begun. Furthermore, if Kojima Productions just started working on the sequel, it could be a while before fans get a glimpse of it. Death Stranding took Kojima Productions three years to develop, so if the studio just started working on the sequel, fans shouldn&#8217;t expect it to drop until 2025.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, Kojima Productions is also reportedly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/admin\/post\/edit\/Hideo%20Kojima's%20Xbox%20game%20is%20reportedly%20still%20happening\">working with Xbox on a cloud-based game<\/a>.
