God of War Ragnarök<\/span><\/a> is one of the most anticipated PlayStation exclusive titles and is a sequel to its 2018 predecessor God of War. Yet, it’s been nearly a year since developer Sony Santa Monica revealed the first gameplay trailer for the game.<\/p>\n

Naturally, fans have been yearning for more updates, particularly regarding when God of War Ragnarok will release. As such, here’s everything you need to know about God of War Ragnarök<\/span>, including updates on its release date, story, gameplay, platforms, and more. <\/p>\n

God of War Ragnarök<\/span> – Release date<\/h2>\n

God of War Ragnarök<\/span> will release on 9th November 2022 for PS4 and PS5.<\/p>\n

A November release date for God of War Ragnarok was first reported by Bloomberg<\/a>, and Sony Santa Monica have now confirmed the same via the PlayStation Blog<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It seems God of War Ragnarök<\/span> will pick off right after the events of 2018’s God of War. Without spoiling too much, God of War’s (2018) ending left a lot to speculate about Kratos and Atreus’ fate, and we get a glimpse of that in the God of War Ragnarök<\/span> gameplay trailer from last year. <\/p>\n

A much older Atreus is now brimming with more questions about his true nature, whereas Kratos (although much more accepting of his past) is still reluctant to talk about certain aspects of it with his son, resulting in a complicated father-son relationship.<\/p>\n

As for the game’s plot, the title clarifies that Ragnarok (the end of the world, according to Norse mythology) is coming. As Ragnarok looms in the background, Kratos and Atreus go on a journey to find Tyr, the Norse God of War, for reasons unknown at this time. <\/p>\n

Thor is confirmed to appear, and we would likely also see Odin in God of War Ragnarök<\/span>. As for returning characters, we know that Mimir, the Drawf brothers – Brok and Sindri – are returning, alongside Freya (whose real identity is revealed at the end of the last game.)<\/p>\n

2018’s God of War adopted methodical combat that’s more reminiscent of Soulsborne titles than the hack and slash style of previous God of War games. By the looks of it, God of War Ragnarök<\/span> will be no different and will follow in the footsteps of 2018’s reboot.<\/p>\n

God of War Ragnarök<\/span> will feature a semi-open world to explore, where you complete side quests, find treasures, hunt collectibles, upgrade your gear, and progress the main story. Kratos’ Leviathan Axe returns, and so does his Blades of Chaos, though you could expect new upgrade paths and skills for these weapons.  <\/p>\n
