Disney’s ambitious plans for the Star Wars franchise have pivoted to television after a disastrous fan reaction to the most recent trilogy of films that continued the story of the Skywalker saga decades after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

As a result, recent TV projects have decided to stick closer to Return of the Jedi in terms of continuity, opting to fill in the gaps between Episode VI and Episode VII: The Force Awakens than to continue to move the canon forward.

From The Mandalorian to Obi-Wan Kenobi, a new Star Wars show will give us a different look at the formation of the rebellion during the most tyrannic years of the Galactic Empire: Star Wars Andor.

Following the titular character Cassian Andor, the show serves as a prequel to 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars story, which in turn is the immediate prelude to Episode IV: A New Hope. We’ll meet Andor five years prior to the events of Rogue One and see him turn from an apathetic, selfish thief to the most fervent believer of the rebellion.
