{"id":32471,"date":"2022-06-11T19:02:56","date_gmt":"2022-06-11T19:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/smash-legend-chillindude-suffers-stroke"},"modified":"2024-07-19T08:47:12","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T08:47:12","slug":"smash-legend-chillindude-suffers-stroke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/super-smash-bros-melee\/smash-legend-chillindude-suffers-stroke","title":{"rendered":"Smash legend ChillinDude suffers stroke, community fundraises for heart surgery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Smash community has rallied behind Kashan &#8220;ChillinDude&#8221; Khan after his brother Burhan stated that the Liquid-sponsored Melee player and commentator had suffered a stroke and will require open-heart surgery.<\/p>\n<p>32-year-old ChillinDude has been a staple of the Melee community for more than 15 years, inspiring generations of players to pick up the fighting game, particularly with his involvement in the acclaimed Smash Bros documentary, released in 2013.<\/p>\n<h2>What happened to Smash star ChillinDude?<\/h2>\n<p>According to a statement by ChillinDude&#8217;s brother on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gofundme.com\/f\/support-kashan-khans-chillin-stroke-recovery?member=19878351&amp;utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet&amp;utm_medium=copy_link_all&amp;utm_source=customer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">GoFundMe<\/a>, which was set up to help cover the hefty expenses of the surgery and recovery process, after days of being unable to contact Chillin, he reached out to his friends, who found him unresponsive in his bedroom in Southern California.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His knee had an infection that spread to his heart, [and] the resulting blockage causing a medium-sized stroke which had incapacitated him for a long time before getting any help.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Chillin&#8217;s brother confirmed that he&#8217;s had massive speech and movement improvements these past few days, inspiring some hope that he&#8217;ll recover fully. &#8220;He will take some time to heal from, but we&#8217;re hopeful that with the proper care, he will make an almost complete recovery.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Smash community rallies behind ChillinDude after stroke<\/h2>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/y2vTPn8Ls8iexYP3Z-RtH9swDBdaXQS_XTpoePDijeg\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMi9EZXN0aW55XzIvY2hpbGxuXzIuanBn\" alt=\"ChillinDude will undergo open-heart surgery. Ludwig Ahgren, one of the most recognizable North American content creators, helped by donating &#36;10,000.
