If you follow Overwatch esports closely, you are probably aware that all Overwatch League live events planned for March and April have all been canceled.<\/p>\n

Of course, the reason is the current COVID-19 outbreak the world is dealing with, and precaution measures are taken to stop the spread of the virus.<\/p>\n

Nevertheless, Activision-Blizzard is planning to continue with the prestige League, but with online-only matches, and they have just released the new schedule for March and April.<\/p>\n

The new schedule is constructed with two things in mind. Firstly, to eliminate the need for travel, and secondly, to minimize latency issues for online competition. <\/p>\n

With that in mind, all teams will compete in three regions. Four Chinese teams(Chengdu Hunters, Guangzhou Charge, Hangzhou Spark, and Shanghai Dragons) will now play only against each other.  The second region for online play is formed from the rest of the Pacific Conference, and the Atlantic Conference teams will compete with all of them located in the United States on the East Coast and in Texas.<\/p>\n

Since the original schedule can no longer be executed, “some teams will play more than two matches against other teams, and some teams won’t play each other.”<\/p>\n
