{"id":3311,"date":"2020-03-18T17:15:20","date_gmt":"2020-03-18T17:15:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/sony-s-playstation-5-specs-revealed"},"modified":"2024-07-23T00:09:19","modified_gmt":"2024-07-23T00:09:19","slug":"sony-s-playstation-5-specs-revealed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/sony-s-playstation-5-specs-revealed","title":{"rendered":"Sony\u2019s PlayStation 5 specs revealed in console deep dive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When Sony <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/sony-new-playstation-5-details\">announced a presentation<\/a> to showcase new PlayStation 5 details, they perhaps didn&rsquo;t have in mind a comprehensive breakdown of system chips and advancing audio graphs.<\/p>\n<p>Presented by lead system architect Mark Cerny, the presentation, while informative, was more a lecture to industry insiders than consumers &#8211; featuring no look at the PS5 console whatsoever.<\/p>\n<p>Instead we got a breakdown of the specifications in the PS5 (via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/articles\/digitalfoundry-2020-playstation-5-specs-and-tech-that-deliver-sonys-next-gen-vision\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Eurogamer<\/a>), which you can check out below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CPU &#8211; 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.5GHz (variable frequency<\/li>\n<li>GPU &#8211; 10.28 TFLOPS, 36 CUs at 2.23 GHZ (variable frequency)<\/li>\n<li>GPU Architecture &#8211; Custom RDNA 2<\/li>\n<li>Memory\/interface &#8211; 448GB\/s<\/li>\n<li>Internal Storage &#8211; Custom 825GB SSD<\/li>\n<li>IO Throughput &#8211; 5.5GB\/s (Raw), Typical 8-9 GB\/s (compressed)<\/li>\n<li>Expandable Storage &#8211; NVMe SSD slot<\/li>\n<li>External Storage &#8211; USB HDD Support<\/li>\n<li>Optical Drive &#8211; 4K UHD Blu-ray Drive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The main selling point Sony showcased was the SSD drive&nbsp;which will have 825 GB of internal storage &#8211; sitting between the 500GB PS4 hard drive space at launch and the PS4 Pro&#8217;s&nbsp;1TB.<\/p>\n<p>The switch to an&nbsp;SDD however will mean much faster load times.
