To unlock the next Apocalypse Tier, you have to play the game at the highest Apocalypse Tier currently available. There is also an option for the game to auto-set the highest apocalypse tier available every time you unlock a new tier.<\/p>\n<p>Your Apocalypse Tier determines the quality of the loot you obtain. If you just want to experience the story and are not looking for any challenge, you can always downscale your Apocalypse Tier.
