We recently wrote about the new game mode in Plague Inc, which gives you an option to save the world. The company behind the game, Ndemic Creations, made a $250,000 donation to the WHO and the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations, in efforts to help the fight against the ongoing pandemic.

Now, another, much bigger name in the gaming industry, shows humanity. Riot Games, creators of the League of Legends, yesterday donated $1.5 million to help mitigate the crisis created by coronavirus outbreak.

This was first shared by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who announced in a press conference that Riot donated “more than $800,000 to local nonprofits.”

“On top of that financial contribution, Riot Games is working to secure critical personal equipment for LA’s hospitals, like much-needed masks to protect our front-line doctors and nurses,” Los Angeles mayor Eric Garcetti said in a press conference.

Shortly after, Riot themselves clarified that the amount is actually quite bigger, $1.5 million total. Riot as a company donated $500,000, and its co-founders Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill are donating $500,000 each. From these funds, $200,000 goes to the Mayor’s Fund for Los Angeles, $400,000 will go to the Los Angeles Food Bank, and the remaining funds will go to various nonprofit organisations in Los Angeles area.
