Morgoth is one of those characters that have already been mentioned and is a major player in the history of Middle Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Despite plenty of characters getting a nod in The Rings of Power, many of them won&#8217;t ever make a true appearance in the latest iteration of the fantasy world. (Picture: Amazon Prime Video)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The timeline of The Rings of Power brings viewers thousands of years before the events of The Lord of the Rings. In theory, nearly anyone could show up, including the original Dark Lord, Morgoth. However, there was plenty of history that went down before the events of the latest show.<\/p>\n<p>More likely than not, we will never see an appearance from Morgoth in the show. At least not in the current timeline. Characters like Elrond and Galadriel both witnessed the fall of Morgoth, and that evil is still fresh in their mind when the show begins. Nearly his entire reign of terror took place then, and the Second Age began with his downfall. However, the Tolkien Estate decides what parts of the lore are explored. (Picture: Amazon Prime Video)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Also known as Melkor, this Dark Lord was the predecessor to Sauron. Compared to Sauron, Morgoth was far more dangerous and required a much larger alliance to defeat. Even then, he was only banished to the void rather than outright slain. Sauron in comparison has lost to Middle Earth twice and was slain.<\/p>\n<p>As an Ainur, Melkor is incredibly old and outdated even the likes of Gandalf or Sauron. He was there to interrupt the music that essentially bound Middle Earth together, and according to some lore, he&#8217;ll be there when it all ends. There&#8217;s a reason it took so many alliances to take him down, and he still lives in the minds of the elves.
