Marvel has stepped up its video game development team over the years, with releases such as this and Spider-Man being not only great homages to their respective source material but great games overall.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The first Guardians of the Galaxy game was released in 2021, only months after its initial reveal. Despite such a short time between the reveal and release, the game performed relatively well, aside from a few minor issues that were quickly patched.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Guardians of the Galaxy, the movie has received a sequel, but will the game be receiving another installment anytime soon? Let&#8217;s find out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At the time of writing, there is no official confirmed release date for Marvel&#8217;s Guardians of the Galaxy 2. The game reportedly resulted in a &#36;200 million loss for the company.<\/p>\n<p>As such, the game has yet to receive any kind of DLC, with no plans of any DLC arriving anytime soon, either. Executive narrative direction, Mary Demarle stated:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There isn&rsquo;t going to be any DLC for this game. That&rsquo;s because, for us, it&rsquo;s very important that on day one, when players get this game, they can have access to everything there is about this game and experience it. Right off the bat, they can get all of the costumes or outfits that are available, and they can find all the abilities as they progress through the game. However, the original game didn&#8217;t perform especially well at launch, and Square Enix&#8217;s financial report stated sales of the game failed to meet initial expectations.<\/p>\n<p>We know the game received a welcome jolt of new players when it came to Xbox Game Pass and PS Plus services, but even then, it&#8217;s not up to Square Enix anymore.<\/p>\n<p>Following Eidos Montreal&#8217;s sale to the Embracer Group in 2022, it&#8217;s not impossible that a sequel could happen. But even then, maybe Eidos will want to return to their fan-favorite&nbsp; Deus Ex series or even a new Legacy of Kain.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, we&#8217;ll get to see Star-Lord and the team once again, but only time will tell.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The first Guardians of the Galaxy was a great success.
