That&#8217;s because they&nbsp;broke the Guinness World Record&nbsp;for Most Players Online in a single FPS battle, a record previously also held by the PlanetSide 2.<\/p>\n<p>The previous record was set back in 2015, when&nbsp;1,158 players simultaneously took part in one gigantic battle on the Hossin continent, between all three of the game&rsquo;s Empires: Terran Republic, Vanu Sovereignty and New Conglomerate.<\/p>\n<p>The thing is, that time the event was officially organised by the game creators&nbsp;Planetsidebattles, and publishers,&nbsp;Sony Online Entertainment, and it was an actual attempt to broke the previous record of 999 players, made by&nbsp;Man vs. Machine, back in 2012.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read more:<\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/steam-record-concurrent-users\" target=\"_blank\">Steam breaks another record with more than 22 million concurrent users.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>But this time around, everything is completely spontaneous. The game&nbsp;saw a big surge of&nbsp;players in the last few months and was even amongst<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Planetside\/comments\/fmqjjq\/top_selling_and_front_page_baby\/\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\"> Steam top sellers<\/a> at one moment.&nbsp; This March the game peaked at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/steamcharts.com\/app\/218230\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">7,694 concurrent players<\/a>, with the average being around ~3,700.<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AndySites\/status\/1243942744348749824\"><twitter-widget class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\" id=\"twitter-widget-0\" style=\"position: absolute; visibility: hidden; display: block; transform: rotate(0deg);\"><\/twitter-widget><\/p>\n<blockquote align=\"center\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\" data-twitter-extracted-i1585828715437871086=\"true\" data-twitter-extracted-i1585833865663497396=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Nice work <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TheSpiffingBrit?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@TheSpiffingBrit<\/a> &#8211; the map you&#8217;re on right now (Esamir) currently has 1,283 players in battle with you. In his tweet, he mentioned Youtuber and streamer&nbsp;The Spiffing Brit, who was the part of the game when the record was made.<\/p>\n<p>The game recently got a big update called Escalation, which surely is one of the reasons for the growing number of players.
