It hasn’t been smooth sailing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2<\/a> (MW2) at launch, from players getting false permabanned<\/a> for apparently no reason to running into bugs such as Dev Error 6036<\/a> and more. Those on PC have even more to contend with, as they will need to find the best NVIDIA GeForce driver to use for Modern Warfare 2.<\/p>\n

One might think the latest NVIDIA GeForce driver is obviously the best option for Modern Warfare 2. This is, however, not the case. This article explains which the best NVIDIA GeForce driver options are for Modern Warfare 2 and why you shouldn’t use a specific one.<\/p>\n

It is standard practice for PC gamers to download the latest NVIDIA GeForce Drivers once they become available, especially the “Game Ready” version to, well, get “ready” for a new release such as Modern Warfare 2.<\/p>\n
The latest Game Ready Drivers are 526.47, which has been found to cause stability issues in Modern Warfare 2. This comes straight from developer Beenbox via Twitter<\/a>.<\/p>\n
At the time of writing, NVIDIA has not provided an update on when this issue will be fixed.<\/p>\n
We will endeavor to update this article once NVIDIA confirms a time frame for a possible hotfix. For now, avoid updating to the 526.47 drivers if you play Modern Warfare 2.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, the latest NVIDIA GeForce Driver, as discussed in the section above, is broken. It causes stability issues, after all, so what should you go for?<\/p>\n
The best two NVIDIA GeForce Drivers for Modern Warfare 2 are currently the Game Ready 516.59 or 522.25 drivers.<\/p>\n
PC gamers can use the GeForce Now app to download older drivers or search for the options via NVIDIA’s official Driver Download page<\/a>. You can also roll back drivers from 526.47 if you run into issues while trying to play Modern Warfare 2.<\/p>\n
