Following days of mystery, Pokémon GO Trainers have finally learned the identity of the mysterious Pokémon lurking around golden PokéStops in-game. In a collaborative effort between Professor Willow and Mr. Jacq, the Pokémon is confirmed to be Gimmighoul<\/strong> in its Roaming Form.<\/p>\n

The Pokémon has been ordering you to seek out a Gold Coin from the Paldea region<\/a> in-game as questions arose about whether you can catch Gimmighoul. This guide details how to find and catch Gimmighoul (Roaming Form) in Pokémon GO.<\/p>\n

2nd June 2023 Update:<\/u><\/strong> This guide reflects that Golden PokéStops will return for the Searching for Gold event<\/a> in Pokémon GO. However, these stops will appear without using Golden Lure Modules, which Roaming Form Gimmighoul won't be spawning here.<\/pre>\n<\/p>\n
How To Find Gimmighoul In Pokémon GO?<\/h2>\n

Gimmighoul is a Ghost-type Pokémon whom many Trainers in Pokémon GO have been acquainting themselves with following the conclusion of the Dratini Community Day Class event<\/a>. While many have only encountered the Roaming Form<\/strong> of this Pokémon, it’s relatively easy to find it in-game.<\/p>\n
It was previously known Gimmighoul (Roaming Form) can be found near golden PokéStops on the interactive map<\/a>, and once you’ve encountered it, it will trigger a speech bubble with a shiny Gold Coin<\/a>. According to the official Pokémon Scarlet and Violet website<\/a>, when a Trainer is nearby Gimmighoul, “it ambushes them” using its ghost energy which controls them and makes them collect these Gold Coins on their behalf.<\/p>\n
While Gimmighoul often hides in places that people and Pokémon don’t frequent, this makes it easier for the Pokémon to control the subject should it cross paths with them. In Paldea, they often hide in various places across the region and flee if someone does approach them; no one thus far has been able to catch the crafty Pokémon until now.<\/p>\n
How To Catch Roaming Form <\/strong>Gimmighoul In Pokémon GO?<\/h2>\n

According to the official blog post from Niantic<\/a>, Trainers can connect in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to Pokémon GO and forward Postcards from either game for an opportunity to encounter Roaming Form Gimmighoul. Likewise, they can collect Gimmighoul Coins in Pokémon GO for this coin-loving Pokémon to appear before you.<\/p>\n
You can also use the Coin Bag mechanic, which you’ll receive when sending a Postcard and can attract Gimmighoul to your location. Once sent, you can use the Coin Bag again; however, you have a daily limit of one Postcard, which resets at 12 am local time, and all Postcards can be found within your Postcard Book.<\/p>\n
To help collect Gimmighoul Coins, you can use the Golden Lure Module, which can be obtained by sending as many Postcards to Pokémon Scarlet or Violet games. Placing a Golden Lure Module on a PokéStop turns it into a Golden PokéStop, and spinning it grants you the chance to earn Gimmighoul Coins.<\/p>\n

Additionally, there are other items that you can collect from these Golden PokéStops, including encounters with Roaming Form Gimmighoul. If you collected 999 Gimmighoul Coins<\/a>, you could evolve Roaming Form Gimmighoul into Gholdengo.<\/p>\n
It’s also worth noting that should you send Postcards between these games, it will impact your adventures in Paldea, mainly for Vivillon. The Vivillon that resides in Paldea will change on the Postacrd you’ve sent, which should be good news for those trying to find and catch Vivillon<\/a>.<\/p>\n
