From taking on powerful Titan Pokémon to playing co-op with friends, there are hours of fun to be had exploring the many locations across the Paldea region. Even after completing the main storyline, shiny hunting, Tera Raids, and competitive battles are all ready and waiting! <\/p>\n

However, to complete most post-game content in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’re going to need exceptionally strong Pokémon. One of the best ways to acquire powerful Pokémon in any game in the series has been via breeding eggs. This article will cover everything you need to know about how to breed eggs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.<\/p>\n

How To Breed Eggs In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet<\/h2>\n

Before we jump into the many shortcuts and optimal situations for competitive breeding, we first need to figure out how to get an egg! In previous games, leaving two Pokémon in the Day-Care of opposite genders in the same Egg Group (or one Pokémon and a Ditto) would result in an Egg from the Day-Care lady. Things are much different in Scarlet and Violet. <\/p>\n

Firstly, there is no Day-Care in this game. Instead, eggs are acquired from picnics. By simply putting two compatible Pokémon into your party and entering a picnic, eggs will be generated over time without you having to do anything! They will appear sporadically in the picnic basket, so make sure to check it once in a while. The number of eggs you can store in the basket caps out at ten, so you will need to collect them all before new eggs will start to appear. <\/p>\n

Additionally, you can certain sandwiches (such as the Ultra Peanut Butter sandwich) or eat a meal to increase your egg generation frequency by one or two levels. It is recommended to have only the Pokémon you want to breed in your party when picnicking. Or, if you love randomness, you can throw five Pokémon and a Ditto into a picnic and see what you get!<\/p>\n

How To Hatch Eggs In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet<\/h2>\n

Hatching eggs is the same as it has always been in previous Generations. Different eggs will hatch after a certain number of steps. It is recommended to hatch eggs while a Pokémon with the Flame Body ability is in your party, as this will reduce the number of steps needed to hatch an egg. Egg hatching in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is much faster than in previous games if <\/em>you only want to hatch ten or so eggs. <\/p>\n

Unfortunately, for competitive breeders and shiny hunters, who go through hundreds, if not thousands of eggs, this method is quite a lot slower, as you can no longer hatch eggs while accumulating more at the same time. The acquisition portion and the hatching portion of the breeding process now have to be done completely separately. That being said, Koraidon and Miraidon’s dash makes the hatch timer feel almost non-existent in these games!<\/p>\n

Thankfully, passing down IVs works the same as it does in previous generations. By holding the Destiny Knot, <\/strong>a Pokémon will pass down 5\/6 of its IVs. And, if you want to pass down a nature <\/strong>or breed a regional form <\/strong>(like Galarian Meowth), you can do so by giving it an Everstone. <\/strong><\/p>\n

How To Get Egg Moves In Pokémon Scarlet And Violet<\/h2>\n

Thankfully, getting egg moves in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is super easy. You can still pass egg moves from parent to child as you always could. However, there is a much faster method to get egg moves in this game. Here’s how:<\/p>\n

  1. Take the Pokémon you want to learn the egg move and delete one of their four attacks. This can be done on the Summary page. <\/li>\n
  2. Take a Pokémon who has the egg move you want to pass to the other Pokémon. <\/li>\n
  3. Put both Pokémon into your party and start a picnic.<\/li>\n
  4. Close the picnic straight away. <\/li>\n
  5. Your Pokémon will now know the egg move!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
