Even with the added benefit of the shiny charm and shiny sandwiches, shiny Pokémon are still a very rare collector’s items. <\/p>\n

However, if this is your first-time shiny hunting in a Pokémon game, you may be wondering how to tell if a Pokémon is shiny in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This article will cover everything you need to know about distinguishing normal Pokémon from shiny Pokémon in Scarlet and Violet!<\/p>\n

Firstly, the most obvious way to tell if a Pokémon is shiny is that it will be a different color from others of its species. <\/strong>Most shiny Pokémon will be in complete contrast to their original forms, sporting more vibrant and brighter color palettes. Additionally, when you encounter a shiny Pokémon or send it into battle, a small chime sound will play, and stars will shine from its body.<\/strong> <\/p>\n

However, for some shiny Pokémon, the difference in color is nearly unnoticeable. Shiny Pokémon, such as Garchomp, Gengar, and Scyther, look almost identical to their original forms. For cases like these, by opening the summary page of a Pokémon you think might be shiny, you will be able to see a small star-like symbol next to their name if they are indeed shiny. <\/p>\n

The last method you can use to check if a Pokémon is shiny is to use your Pokédex. Your in-game menu will record all shiny Pokémon you battle and tally the total. Unfortunately, there is no way to tell if a Pokémon is shiny in the overworld other than by what it looks like. Unlike Pokémon, Let’s Go!
