The Christmas festivities in Pokémon GO<\/a> see various Water and Ice-type Pokémon appearing more often in the wild and Raid encounters or offered as rewards from Research activities. As we anticipate 2023 with the upcoming New Year’s 2023 event<\/a>, the final Spotlight Hour will begin soon in-game.<\/p>\n

The polar bear Ice Pokémon, Cubchoo, has been seen more frequently during the Winter Holiday event, and it will receive a Spotlight Hour<\/a>, but will there be a Shiny Cubchoo? We explore whether Trainers can encounter a Shiny Cubchoo in Pokémon GO’s Spotlight Hour.<\/p>\n

Is There A Shiny Cubchoo In Pokémon GO?<\/h2>\n

The upcoming Spotlight Hour event featuring the Ice-type Pokémon, Cubchoo<\/a>, will have a Shiny Cubchoo spawning more frequently in the wild<\/strong>. Its Shiny form debuted during the Galarian Mr. Mime event in December 2020, so you could stand a chance of finding this adorable Pokémon in its Shiny form.<\/p>\n

The final Spotlight Hour event will take place on 27th December 2022 for one hour between 6 pm and 7 pm local time<\/strong>. Like with previous Spotlight Hour events, an event bonus will be active during the event in which you can earn double Candy for transferring Pokémon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, all other event bonuses<\/strong> from previous Spotlight Hours this December 2022 will apply to Cubchoo’s Spotlight Hour<\/strong>. These event bonuses are double catch Stardust, double catch XP, and double catch Candy.<\/p>\n

How To Find A Shiny Cubchoo in Pokémon GO?<\/h2>\n

Cubchoo is currently appearing in another ongoing event which will overlap with the Spotlight Hour, meaning it will appear more frequently. Cubchoo is featured in wild and one-star Raid encounters<\/a><\/strong> for the Winter Holiday Part 2 event<\/a>, although this is the event form wearing a Holiday ribbon.<\/p>\n

An encounter with Cubchoo can also be received as a reward for completing Field Research tasks<\/a> and from the Winter Wishes Timed Research<\/a>. To further increase your chances of spotting Cubchoo, use a Glacial Lure Module<\/a><\/strong>, which attracts Water and Ice-type Pokémon to the PokéStop you’ve used the module on.<\/p>\n

Once you’ve encountered Cubchoo, whether it be its Normal or Shiny form, interact with it and use your Poké Balls to catch Cubchoo and add it to your Pokédex. The more Cubchoo you catch, the more Cubchoo candy you’ll earn, which can help evolve it into the polar bear-looking Pokémon, Beartic.<\/p>\n

However, if you have a Cubchoo wearing a Holiday ribbon, you can evolve it to Beartic wearing a Holiday ribbon during the Winter Holiday Part 2. Regardless, evolving Cubchoo requires 50 Cubchoo Candy<\/strong>, meaning you’ll need to catch plenty of Cubchoo and enjoy utilizing the event bonuses.<\/p>\n
