Silent Hill fans rejoiced when a Silent Hill 2 remake was announced last year<\/a> during the Silent Hill Transmission, but many long-time fans of the franchise were concerned to hear that the Silent Hill 2 Remake would be developed by Bloober Team instead of Konami. Many fans voiced their concerns that the studio would make major changes to the iconic game, while others were excited to see what would come of the updated release.<\/p>\n

It’s been a long time since the original Silent Hill 2 was released, and there is certainly a lot of room for technological and graphical improvements. Bloober Team and Konami have promised that the Silent Hill 2 Remake will remain largely faithful to the original, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be making a few changes. “We are focusing on bringing the distinct, visceral atmosphere back in the modernized Silent Hill 2,” <\/em><\/strong>Anna Jasińska, Chief Marketing Officer of Bloober Team, explained in a recent interview with DreadXP.<\/p>\n

Silent Hill 2 Remake Plot Changes<\/h3>\n

In the interview, the Silent Hill 2 Remake team reiterated that they would not change the iconic story of the original game. Therefore, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing any major alterations to the familiar fog world of Silent Hill outside of graphical and gameplay updates.<\/p>\n

“Longtime fans shouldn’t worry about us ‘missing the point’ while we’re livening up the title,” <\/strong>Jasińska assured fans. “We faithfully stick to the traditional story canon.”<\/p>\n

While the story of Silent Hill 2 will remain the same in the remake, the graphics and combat system will see an overhaul. One of the significant changes in the remake is the change to an over-the-shoulder camera<\/strong>. Developers needed to switch up the game’s combat system to better fit the new camera angles.<\/p>\n

“The latest technological advancements do wonders when it comes to making the visuals pop,” Jasińska said. “As you see, we are not straying away from the original concept of making this cult classic; we just have some ideas on how to make the peculiar scare factors more appealing to the contemporary audience.”<\/p>\n
