PS5 updates<\/a> have always brought diverse improvements to the console that not only improve the experience for gamers but also expand the platform’s capabilities. And the most recent update is no different, by adding overall improvements to the system as well as support for one of the console’s latest controllers, the Dualsense Edge. <\/span><\/p>\n

So in this article, we’ll go over this latest firmware update in detail and discuss what changes it made to the PS5 console. And take an in-depth look into the new controller that allows support for, the DualSense Edge. <\/span><\/p>\n

Latest PS5 System Update Adds DualSense Edge Support<\/span><\/h2>\n

The latest PS5 firmware update, version 22.02-06.50.00, is an exciting one for various reasons. The first is that the update will “[improve] system performance”, though this is fairly vague as most updates tend to be, we expect to see some all round improvements made to the console, such as the performance of the UI and when gaming. <\/span><\/p>\n

The next feature of the update, and arguably the highlight of what this update will bring, is the support for the upcoming DualSense Edge wireless controller<\/a> which will be released on the 26th Jan globally for $199.99 USD \/ £209.99 \/ €239.99. This controller is the latest premium controller for the console that Sony will be producing and it comes with some awesome bells and whistles such as adjustable trigger lengths, changeable keycaps, and much more. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sony has gone on to state that “the DualSense Edge wireless controller features a host of hardware and software-based personalization options, including button remapping, the ability to fine-tune stick sensitivity and triggers, options to swap between multiple control profiles, and a unique on-controller user interface.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You can make the DualSense Edge wireless controller uniquely yours with the included three changeable sets of stick caps and two changeable sets of back buttons.” So all in all, it appears that Sony’s claim of this being the best controller on the market isn’t unwarranted, and the new version update will allow all PS5 owners to pick one up for themselves. <\/span><\/p>\n

The previous update that rolled out in September 2022 added 1440p support, folder storage, and some new social features to the console. And with this new update improving the system performance and adding support for a new flagship controller, it seems that Sony is focusing intensely on bringing all gamers on their platform the best performance and experience possible when gaming on the PS5. <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
