On 10 January 2023, the Spanish gaming website, Area Jugones<\/a>, reported that a remake of the 1998 PlayStation action-adventure game Metal Gear Solid might be in the works. According to anonymous sources, the game has been in development for several years and would be a PlayStation 5<\/a> exclusive title to be unveiled sometime before May 2023. That said, it’s important to note that this information has not been officially confirmed by Konami, the game’s publisher, and should be considered a rumor.<\/p>\n

Area Jugones has a history of leaking accurate information. Still, the website’s editor Juan Linares stressed that the information provided this time was not as detailed as in previous leaks. “I do not have all [the information] with me that the leak is as true as the ones we have had access to on previous occasions, basically because on other occasions, the information has been much more detailed than now, which makes me wonder if really be true,” they wrote.<\/p>\n

Despite this, the editor added that the leak at least confirmed the remake’s existence, citing that an official announcement could come soon. Initially, it was suspected (albeit with little confidence) that the Metal Gear Solid<\/a> remake would be announced at The Game Awards<\/a>; however, an update by the source later claimed that the reveal should happen by no later than May this year, with the most likely time frame being February or March 2023.<\/p>\n

The Metal Gear Solid franchise, created by award-winning Japanese game designer Hideo Kojima, is considered one of the most influential and critically acclaimed series in the gaming industry. The series is known for its complex narrative, stealth gameplay, and iconic characters. As such, a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid, released in 1998, would be eagerly anticipated by fans and would introduce the game to a new generation of players.<\/p>\n
