On 22 January 2023, 343 Industries, the studio in charge of developing the Halo game franchise, denied rumors that it would be taken off “active development” of the series. In a statement on Twitter, studio head Pierre Hintze stated that the company will continue to develop Halo games, citing that “Halo and Master Chief are here to stay.”

“343 Industries will continue to develop Halo now and in the future, including epic stories, multiplayer, and more of what makes Halo great,” Hintze wrote. The statement comes after rumors circulated that the studio would be helping other third-party studios develop Halo games following the recent mass layoffs at Microsoft, including the departure of Halo Infinite creative director Joseph Staten, as part of the company’s restructuring.
