The Hillbilly<\/a> was one of the original three killers to be added to Dead by Daylight, and he remains one of the most iconic killers in the original roster almost seven years later. His Chainsaw allows him to cover large distances at a rapid speed with little effort, and if he positions himself correctly, he can even use it to instantly down a survivor.<\/p>\n

If you’re up against a good Hillbilly, it can be hard to know what to do when he comes roaring toward you with his Chainsaw from across the map. You don’t have a lot of time to react against this killer most of the time – but don’t fret. We’ve created this guide to help you counter The Hillbilly so you can win more games against him while playing survivor.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Loop The Hillbilly to Counter in DBD<\/h2>\n

To counter The Hillbilly, you must understand that his Chainsaw is only effective in wide open spaces and does not work well in tight loops. (Picture: Behaviour Interactive)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
While The Hillbilly can use his Chainsaw to cover long distances, he isn’t the best killer in typical loop situations. His Chainsaw is hard to use around tight corners, and it takes some time to rev, giving you time to adjust if he does attempt a curve in an unsafe loop. If you use loop tiles and play against The Hillbilly as you would any other killer, you can win more 1v1 interactions against him.<\/strong> Avoid being intimidated by his Chainsaw; it’s easy to make mistakes if you overcorrect when he revs it up.<\/p>\n
Avoid Wide-Open Spaces Against The Hillbilly<\/h2>\n

The Hillbilly isn’t able to effectively use his Chainsaw in many tight spaces, but in open areas, he can take down a survivor with little effort. To avoid going down against a skilled Hillbilly, don’t run out into the open. <\/strong>Instead, weave around trees and other objects, or, better yet, put walls, vault locations, and pallets between you and The Hillbilly.<\/p>\n
If you’re on a generator that isn’t situated in a loop, it’s worth considering which side you’re standing on. If you’re standing on a side that faces the wall; it’s harder for The Hillbilly to ambush you with his Chainsaw; if you’re standing on the side that faces the open, on the other hand, he can easily charge toward you without warning, giving you no time to react.<\/p>\n
