Freddy Krueger<\/a> is one of the most iconic licensed characters in Dead by Daylight, and his kit is also one of the most diverse in the killer roster. With his Dream Pallets, Dream Snares, generator teleportation ability, and more, Freddy Krueger is no doubt one of the most complex killers in the game. This can make him an intimidating and formidable foe for newer players to play against, but with some practice, you’ll be able to outsmart and outrun The Nightmare in no time. To help you out, we’ve put together this guide on how to counter The Nightmare in Dead by Daylight.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Wake Up Often Against The Nightmare<\/h2>\n

When you’re in the Dream World, it’s hard to see the killer coming your way, and you won’t be able to hear his terror radius. Being asleep against The Nightmare is never a good thing! You should wake up whenever you fall asleep by using the Alarm Clocks scattered around the map (their auras are illuminated in white) or allowing another survivor to wake you up. <\/strong><\/p>\n
Alternatively, you can also fail a skill check on a generator to wake up. However, this will notify the killer of your location, allowing The Nightmare to know exactly where he should teleport next. You should use another method of waking up under most circumstances unless you have the perk Technician.<\/p>\n
Watch Out For Dream Pallets And Dream Snares<\/h2>\n

Freddy Krueger has two different ways to mess with survivors in the Dream World – Dream Pallets, and Dream Snares. Which one the killer has depends on whether he brings add-ons or not; a Freddy player with no add-ons will be equipped with Dream Snares, while certain add-ons change them to Pallets.<\/p>\n
Dream Pallets are fake pallets that do nothing when thrown; Dream Snares hinder a survivor, slowing them down. You’ll want to avoid interacting with both Dream Pallets and Dream Snares, no matter which one the killer brings along. <\/strong>You can identify Dream Pallets by looking for pallets that are lying in the opposite direction than other real pallets on the map. Dream Snares show up as a large red spot on the ground.<\/p>\n
