With Sons of the Forest<\/a> releasing in Early Access on PC via Steam on 23 February 2023, some console gamers can’t help but wonder when the game could come to PlayStation 5 (PS5) and Xbox Series X\/S.<\/p>\n

This article explains what we know so far about Sons of the Forest on consoles, including a positive comment by the developer, and speculation on when we might see the survival horror title release on PS5 and Xbox Series X\/S, so let’s jump in.<\/p>\n

Update on 11 March 2024:<\/strong> We've updated this article to reflect the latest information about Sons of the Forest possibly coming to consoles.

At the time of writing, the only confirmed platform for Sons of the Forest is PC. This, however, doesn’t mean that the game can’t come to consoles. In fact, we have some relatively positive news to share, as per a comment by developer Endnight Games.<\/p>\n
During an interview<\/a> from GamingBolt with Endnight Games, the developers said the following, bringing hope to console gamers who want to play Sons of the Forest:<\/p>\n

We would love to come to console in the future, but are currently focused on delivering the best experience possible to PC players.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
This means that we will likely see a Sons of the Forest release on consoles sometime in the future. At least the developers would “love” to have the game come to the console, which is good news overall.<\/p>\n
As to which consoles, well, with the Sons of the Forest PC system requirements<\/a> being quite high, even the minimum, we expect the game won’t release on previous-gen consoles but instead release on PS5, and Xbox Series X. This is, however, just an educated guess, as nothing in terms of console platforms have been confirmed.<\/p>\n

Despite the original The Forest releasing in Early Access in 2014, the game only saw a full release on PC in April 2018. Then, that same year, in November 2018, The Forest released on PS4. <\/p>\n
Taking this into consideration and how long Sons of the Forest is expected to remain in Steam Early Access, we can take a guess that the game’s console release date could be no earlier than mid-2024. Again, this is pure speculation, based on how long it took for the original to move from a full PC release onto consoles.<\/p>\n
