Melee player <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/super-smash-bros-melee\/hungrybox-plea-nintendo-smash-summit\">Juan &ldquo;Hungrybox&rdquo; Debiedma<\/a> has marked the one year anniversary of the dead crab fiasco with a special video &#8211; reflecting on his life since the event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_789400\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_977497\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_173287\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_607170\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<p>Back in April 2019 at Pound 2019, a disgruntled fan hurled a dead crab at Hungrybox shortly after beating Joseph &ldquo;Mang0&rdquo; Marquez in the finals.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The unknown fan was subsequently banned from future Pound events and other FGC tournaments, with the incident further reinforcing negative perceptions of the Super Smash Bros. community at the time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/clips.twitch.tv\/JollyAmericanPandaChocolateRain\">\n<div style=\"left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"border: 0; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;\" tabindex=\"-1\" srcdoc=\"&lt;style&gt;*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden}html,body{height:100%}img,span{position:absolute;width:100%;top:0;bottom:0;margin:auto}span{height:1.5em;text-align:center;font:48px\/1.5 sans-serif;color:white;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black}&lt;\/style&gt;&lt;a href=https:\/\/clips.twitch.tv\/embed?clip=JollyAmericanPandaChocolateRain&amp;autoplay=true&amp;parent=www.ginx.tv&gt;&lt;img src=https:\/\/static-cdn.jtvnw.net\/ttv-static-metadata\/twitch_logo3.jpg alt='Twitch'&gt;&lt;span&gt;&#9654;&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/a&gt;\" src=\"https:\/\/clips.twitch.tv\/embed?clip=JollyAmericanPandaChocolateRain&amp;autoplay=false\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Reflecting on the incident in a new video, Hungrybox recalled how he had a dream a month prior to the incident where he was hit with an object while playing in a tournament.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;When It happened it was eerie,&rdquo; Hungrybox said. &ldquo;It was a strange sense of deja vu.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There was this aftermath which I think was the most unexpected; the outpouring of love from various fans, from companies, from my own team.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The player explained how the crab incident happened during a crossroads in his life where he was unsure whether he would continue as a Smash competitor &#8211; with the subsequent tournament win and crab hurling giving him the push to quit his part-time job.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=dnahrrU1P1I&amp;feature=youtu.be\">\n<div style=\"left: 0; width: 100%; height: 0; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%;\"><iframe allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen=\"\" scrolling=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dnahrrU1P1I?rel=0\" style=\"border: 0; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;\" tabindex=\"-1\" srcdoc=\"&lt;style&gt;*{padding:0;margin:0;overflow:hidden}html,body{height:100%}img,span{position:absolute;width:100%;top:0;bottom:0;margin:auto}span{height:1.5em;text-align:center;font:48px\/1.5 sans-serif;color:white;text-shadow:0 0 0.5em black}&lt;\/style&gt;&lt;a href=https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dnahrrU1P1I?autoplay=1&gt;&lt;img src=https:\/\/img.youtube.com\/vi\/dnahrrU1P1I\/hqdefault.jpg alt='YouTube video thumbnail'&gt;&lt;span&gt;&#9654;&lt;\/span&gt;&lt;\/a&gt;\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Addressing the banned attendee directly, Hungrybox said: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s weird that you chose to do it. It&rsquo;s weird you chose me of all people to do it but I just want to say thank you.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Thank you for your selfish actions because I guess it awoken up a lot of response in people&rsquo;s hearts I guess.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Not just towards me but to how top players are treated and how the scene in general handles its politics&hellip; the factions of who we cheer for and who we don&rsquo;t cheer for, which is always going to be the case in esports.
