With the recent success of the Resident Evil 4 Remake<\/a>, players are more than ecstatic to know that an update for the game is well on its way called “Mercenaries.” Fans of the original game would likely have heard this name before, whereas new Resident Evil 4 players may be unfamiliar with what it means. <\/span><\/p>\n

Regardless, we have you covered in this guide, as we’ll be breaking down everything you need to know about the Mercenaries DLC for the Resident Evil 4 remake. We’ll discuss its origins, release date, content, gameplay aspects, and much more. <\/span><\/p>\n

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries DLC: Release Date<\/span><\/h2>\n

The highly anticipated Resident Evil 4 Remake DLC, Mercenaries, will be available for players to enjoy for free starting on the 7 April. For those that don’t know, “Mercenaries” was the name of an additional game mode in the original Resident Evil 4 that players could unlock after beating the game once on any difficulty. <\/span><\/p>\n

While we aren’t fully sure as to how unlocking it will work in the remake (being a DLC in this case and not just an extra mode), it’s likely also going to be accessible after reaching a certain point in the game or possibly after completing it. If you haven’t tried this mode in the original or just need a refresher on what Mercenaries is all about, let’s discuss the content and gameplay aspects we expect from the Mercenaries DLC. <\/span><\/p>\n

Resident Evil 4 Mercenaries DLC: Content And Gameplay<\/span><\/h2>\n

The original Resident Evil 4 title released in 2005 featured the Mercenaries mode exclusively on the PS2 port of the game, and it is essentially a challenge mode for players looking to put their skills to the test. In this mode, players would need to kill enemies to gain points while a clock ticks down. <\/span><\/p>\n

The more points you earn, the higher your final score or star rating is in the case of Resident Evil 4. Once players reached a five-star rating for each of the characters in the game, they would unlock the insanely powerful Handcannon<\/a>, a .50 magnum that punches through enemies like a small grenade. <\/span><\/p>\n

So what does this mean for the Remake and its version of the Mercenaries mode? Well, likely, the Mercenaries DLC will also contain this arcade-style mode and offer players similar rewards for getting the highest ranks for all playable characters. However, with this being a DLC and not simply an added mode, we could see more content and features added to the game, such as new challenges to go with the game’s new and refreshed look as well as new rewards to earn, and even possibly new weaponry. <\/span><\/p>\n
