Prismatic Shards are one of the rarest items and most coveted items in Stardew Valley; as a result, they are extremely challenging to find even for those who have played the game for a long time. Even if you’ve come across one Prismatic Shard by chance during your journeys, you’ll be hard-pressed to find another to add to your collection without doing some determined searching.

There are a few ways, though, that you can up your chance of obtaining a Prismatic Shard. In this guide, we’ll explain in detail what Prismatic Shards are in Stardew Valley, how they can be used, and the best ways to get them.

Prismatic Shards are the rarest item in Stardew Valley. It is a Mineral that can be sold for 2000g (or used for a variety of other great purposes).

Prismatic Shards aren’t just extremely rare items that you can use to show off; instead, they’re also one of the most useful items in the game.

You can turn a Prismatic Shard into a Galaxy Sword, which is the best weapon available, and you can also use it to unlock other great tools like the Galaxy Hammer and Galaxy Dagger! Just go to the Calico Desert and bring the Prismatic Shard to the strange columns, holding it over your head.

You’ll immediately receive the Galaxy Sword. You’ll also be able to buy the Galaxy Hammer and Galaxy Dagger from the Adventurer’s Guild at any point going forward.

Prismatic Shards can be used to make Prismatic Clothing, and they are a favorite gift for all townspeople, including Abigail, Sebastian, and Haley.

There are multiple methods for getting Prismatic Shards in Stardew Valley, though some of them are more reliable than others.

If you manage to descend as far as the 100th level of the mines, you’ll have a chance of coming across Mystic Stones. Mystic Stones might be fairly rare, but they have a high chance of dropping a Prismatic Shard in return. Mine a Mystic Stone, and you’ll have a 25% chance of earning yourself a single Prismatic Shard.

Fish up a Fishing Treasure Chest, and you’ll have a ≈0.014% chance to get a Prismatic Shard inside when you open it up. While this is an extremely rare drop, it’s still worthwhile to mention that it’s possible to get Shards through fishing.

A somewhat more reliable way to earn Prismatic Shards is to defeat monsters in the mines. Serpents and Mummies offer the greatest chance at 0.1%. There is a 0.05% Prismatic Shard drop chance from Shadow Brutes and Shadow Shamans.

The chance gets even greater as you get deeper into the mines; once you reach the deepest level, every single Monster you defeat has a 0.05% chance of dropping a Prismatic Shard.

Players can keep Rainbow Trout in their Fish Ponds in return for a small chance of earning a Prismatic Shard. You’ll need to keep at least nine Rainbow Trout in a single Fish Pond for this to work. Once you have nine of them, you have a 0.09% daily chance of getting a Prismatic Shard from the pond.

Iridium Nodes can be found in the Skull Cavern, Quarry and Volcano Dungeon, while Omni Geodes can only be found in the Mines; wherever you’re mining, though, you’ll have a chance of gaining a Prismatic Shard.

Omni Geodes offer a 0.4% chance to get a Prismatic Shard, while Iridium Nodes offer a greater 4% chance.

That’s it for how to get Prismatic Shards in Stardew Valley; these items might be extremely rare, but there are various methods to collect them, so you can get your hands on one or several if you’re a really determined player.
