But, while it seems simple, decoding Ciphers isn’t as easy as it might seem; there’s some strategy to it that you’ll need to keep in mind. <\/p>\n

In this article, we’ll explain how to decode a cipher<\/strong> in Identity V and the best tips to follow when decoding one to help your team win.<\/p>\n

How To Decode A Cipher In Identity V<\/h2>\n

To decode a Cipher, you’ll need to walk up to it and press the interact button. As you decode it, you’ll need to hit decode skill checks. Failing one will alert the hunter while hitting it in the yellow zone will allow you to complete the Cipher even faster.<\/p>\n

You can decode a Cipher on your own or with other survivors, much like in Dead by Daylight<\/a>, where multiple survivors can repair a generator to complete it more quickly. <\/p>\n

Tips For Decoding Ciphers In Identity V<\/h2>\n

Now that you know the basics of how to decode a Cipher, let’s take a look at some tips for how to complete all of them and activate the exit gates for your survivor team.<\/p>\n

Leave The Cipher If You Miss A Decode<\/h3>\n

Missing a decode will alert the hunter to your location, so it’s a good idea to leave the location after you miss a decode<\/strong> unless you’re certain that the hunter is busy somewhere else and isn’t headed in your direction. Once you hide and wait it out, you can always head back to the Cipher and continue.<\/p>\n

Determine Whether To Group Up<\/h3>\n

Sometimes, it’s a good idea to team up on Ciphers to get them done more quickly; other times, teaming up with teammates will allow the hunter to take you down more easily. At the beginning of the game, it’s generally a better idea to split up and work on different Ciphers.<\/strong> This way, if you end up in an encounter with the hunter, he won’t be able to pressure your whole team at once, and other teammates can come to your aid. Just as body blocking is a viable strategy in Dead by Daylight to counter killers like the Nemesis,<\/a> you can body block to protect your teammates in Identity V.<\/p>\n
