{"id":5191,"date":"2020-05-26T21:52:43","date_gmt":"2020-05-26T21:52:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/blizzcon-2020-is-officially-canceled"},"modified":"2024-07-19T17:47:09","modified_gmt":"2024-07-19T17:47:09","slug":"blizzcon-2020-is-officially-canceled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/events\/blizzcon-2020-is-officially-canceled","title":{"rendered":"BlizzCon 2020 is officially cancelled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saralyn Smith, Executive Producer of BlizzCon, a&nbsp;few weeks ago warned Blizzard fans that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/video-games\/blizzard-still-plans-blizzcon-2020-but-says-that-it-might-not-happen-due-to-coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\">BlizzCon 2020 &#8220;might not be feasible&#8221;<\/a> with the current situation in the world.<\/p>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_973927\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"traffective-ad-Content_1_619382\" style=\"display: none;\" class=\"Content_1\"><\/div>\n<p>It came as no surprise that Blizzard&#8217;s annual fan conference is <a href=\"https:\/\/blizzcon.com\/en-us\/news\/23434523\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">now officially cancelled<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Read more:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ginx.tv\/en\/league-of-legends\/lec-summer-finals-2020-cancelled\" target=\"_blank\">LEC Summer Finals 2020 in Sweden have been cancelled<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>BlizzCon is absolutely the biggest and the most important Blizzard event of the year, reserved for the biggest announcements and the most important esports events.&nbsp;The first BlizzCon was held in October 2005, and since then, all of the conventions have been held at the Anaheim Convention Center.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"BlizzCon cancelled\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/vbX4jm5BCUVjTtXIUnGzcKeFi0BmzWwoLRCYsvQMsSc\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzL05pa29sYV9TYXZpJUM0JTg3L2JsaXp6Y29uX3RleHRfMS5qcGc\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 338px;\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" loading=\"lazy\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:11px;\">Over 40 000 people visited BlizzCon last year. (Picture: Blizzard)<\/span><\/p>\n<p>This will be the third time that we will have a year without BlizzCon since it was established (previous no-BlizzCon years were 2006 and 2012).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&rsquo;re feeling deeply disappointed about this decision, and imagine many of you will feel the same,&#8221;&nbsp;Saralyn stated in the blog post.&nbsp;&#8220;I truly love BlizzCon, and I know that&rsquo;s a sentiment shared by everyone at Blizzard. We will sorely miss connecting with so many of you at the convention and &ldquo;recharging our geek batteries&rdquo; this fall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She further explains that they will try to &#8220;channel the BlizzCon spirit&#8221; and connect with fans online, but points out that this is new territory for them, and so it will likely be somewhere early next year, instead of autumn.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"BlizzCon cancelled\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/e1TO4c5xBzr4tqViPuYVcUyrjjg7ZFTV8QZys84kMAI\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzL05pa29sYV9TYXZpJUM0JTg3L2JsaXp6Y29uX3RleHRfMi5qcGc\" style=\"width: 600px; height: 400px;\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size:11px;\">There will be an&nbsp;online replacement event, sometime in early 2021.
