In Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield, there’s a robust character customization system, and part of this system is the selection of unique Traits, each with its advantage and disadvantage.

In this guide, we outline every Trait in Starfield that you can choose during character creation, their positive and negative effects on gameplay, and which other traits they are not compatible with.

Become tankier with the Alien DNA Trait in Starfield, but your healing items are less effective. Every Trait has a tradeoff…after all. (Picture: Bethesda)

After choosing your character’s ID, look, and background during the character creation process, the final step is to select up to three Traits. It is, however, important to note that you do not have to select any Traits, as these are optional.

Each Trait has both an advantage and a disadvantage. Some are not compatible with others; for example, you can’t be both an Extrovert and an Introvert! Below, you’ll find every single Trait in Starfield, alongside additional details, so check them out.
