While you can always just keep the puck moving and go for quick shots, evolving your offensive skills by learning how to Toe Drag Deke in NHL 24 will make a big difference. There are several different versions of the Toe Drag in NHL 24, and each could help you open up new scoring opportunities.<\/p>\n

For the more advanced players, there’s even the Datsyuk Flip or Toe Drag Flip if you want to get around defenders and create space. We’ve got all the NHL 24 controls<\/a> you need to hit a Toe Drag Deke when the moment is right.<\/p>\n

How to do a Toe Drag Deke in NHL 24<\/h2>\n

There’s already been some confusion this year about the Toe Drag Deke as it relates to the new Total Control layout. If you notice the game suggesting X or Square for your Toe Drag under Skill Moves, that’s actually going to execute a Backhand Toe Drag Shot. That’s a powerfully versatile move<\/a> if you can get used to hitting it, but may not be what you’re looking for. <\/p>\n

The classic Toe Drag Deke in NHL 24 is actually done with the Right Stick. You’ll want to move the Right Stick downward at an angle to either the left or right (about the 7:30 or 5:30 o’clock positions) and slide the stick rotation inwards. As far as our testing has gone, you can do either variant regardless of hand your player shoots with.<\/p>\n

A great place to practice this will be in against the CPU in HUT Rush within Hockey Ultimate Team<\/a>, as the game mode’s points-based nature means it’ll actually show you if you’re executing the move correctly. You can try the controls in practice mode, but HUT Rush is ideal for getting the instant feedback that you did indeed hit a Toe Drag Deke in NHL 24.<\/p>\n

How to Datsyuk Flip or Toe Drag Shot in NHL 24<\/h2>\n

As mentioned above, you can also use X or Square to execute a Backhand Toe Drag Shot in NHL 24. The direction your player is facing is extremely critical<\/a> for the placement of your shot, so you’ll want to practice this one quite a bit to get a feel for where you need to be if you’re going to attempt it.<\/p>\n

If you want to hit the Datsyuk Flip also known as the Backhand Toe Drag Flip, you’ll want to hold X or Square and then tap RB or R1. Rather than passing or shooting, this will instead lift the puck and you can use this move to flip it over defenders to create an opening as you skate around without the puck before going for a shot.<\/p>\n

Similarly, if you hold X or Square and then tap RT or R2, you’ll execute a Backhand Toe Drag Pass. Spend some time in various modes trying to make these happen in action, and soon you’ll be able to hit a Toe Drag Deke any time you need in NHL 24.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
