The Marvels is the next film in Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as we draw closer to its global theatrical release. Despite the cast being unable to start promoting the film due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, Marvel Studios has higher hopes that the film will secure some much-needed momentum as 2023 comes to an end.<\/p>\n

While early projections for the film’s box office success<\/a> aren’t looking good as of writing, the superhero studio has released new character posters for each pivotal character<\/a> in the film. While Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) continues his screentime run following Secret Invasion, his new affiliation has also been revealed.<\/p>\n

Nick Fury was confirmed to appear in The Marvels after confirmation from Jackson on Instagram in August 2021<\/a>. With S.H.I.E.L.D. no longer in existence and S.W.O.R.D.’s operations not much expanded on since WandaVision, there’s a new organization that Fury is now affiliated with: S.A.B.E.R.<\/p>\n

S.A.B.E.R., or Space And Beyond Earth Recon, is an organization that Fury spearheaded following the vents of The Blip in Avengers: Endgame, and it was first seen in the post-credit scene for Spider-Man: Far From Home. In Marvel Comics, this space organization is a sub-division within S.H.I.E.L.D. that predominately conducts its operations in space, and Fury looks to have taken up the position as the Director of S.A.B.E.R.<\/p>\n

Fury will be running a similar ship as he did on Earth as Director of S.H.I.E.L.D.; this time, he has some backup with Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) assisting Fury with the day-to-day operations. While its purpose of operating in space remains unclear, we may get some answers as to the true intentions of S.A.B.E.R.<\/p>\n

This does provide an opportunity to expand the MCU’s interconnected universe in space or for Fury to introduce or set up another cosmic superhero assemble akin to The Avengers or link up with one like the Nova Corps. Nevertheless, Fury getting a new job position and title makes things rather interesting ahead of The Marvels’ global release on 10th November 2023.<\/p>\n
