During the currently ongoing RE: 2023 conference, Capcom confirmed that a brand new engine is in development, planned to be the successor to the currently-in-use RE Engine, along with revealing a few minor details about the engine itself.<\/p>\n
The engine is currently codenamed REX Engine, standing for RE neXt Engine. According to Tomofumi Ishida, programmer of the Engine, the need for a new engine is all about hoping to use larger asset sizes. Capcom also wants to meet the demands of a next-generation system and allow a greater degree of customizability and a wider range of options in any title that is developed using the REX Engine.<\/p>\n
