With GTA Online<\/strong> being available across so many platforms, eventually older platforms will be phased out. The game is no longer supported by PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, the original platforms for Grand Theft Auto 5. Those platforms are missing out on a large number of different updates<\/a> that have been pushed since then.<\/p>\n

Now the game is moving to newer platforms, with a large number of different updates that are available. PC support for this game has been welcome for that player base but there are some changes<\/a> coming in the future. Namely, GTA Online will soon be no longer be supported for Windows 7 and Windows 8<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

GTA Online To End Support For Windows 7 And 8<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In a recent update to their support page, Rockstar has announced<\/a> that they will no longer support Windows 7 and Windows 8. What this means is that the Rockstar Game Launcher will no longer work<\/strong> with PCs on these operating systems. <\/p>\n

Players will no longer be able to play games like GTA Online<\/strong> which uses the Rockstar Game Launcher. Other titles like Red Dead Online will cease functioning as well. So players who use these operating systems will either have to upgrade their system or potentially lose access to all of their Rockstar games.<\/p>\n

When Will Rockstar Stop Support For Windows 7 And 8<\/strong><\/h2>\n

The end of support for Windows 7 and Windows 8 for Rockstar games will happen on January 30, 2024<\/strong>. Once this date passes, the Rockstar launcher will no longer work for these operating systems. The support page says that they highly recommend that players upgrade their operating system, as that will be the only way to play games like GTA Online on PC.<\/p>\n

The reason for this happening is that Microsoft is also ending its support of Windows 7 and Windows 8. Players can upgrade to Windows 8.1 and everything should work as normal.
