The Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie was a box office hit<\/a>, smashing multiple records even before a single theater showed the film. With so many fans buying tickets<\/a> and enjoying the movie, there’s one major question that most have left the theater with: Will there be a sequel to the FNAF Movie? There’s plenty of lore in the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe to expand upon, so the story doesn’t necessarily have to end where the first movie leaves it.<\/p>\n

Here’s what we know so far about the possibility of a Five Nights At Freddy’s<\/a> 2 Movie, including when it might be released, its cast, and more.<\/p>\n

Will There Be A Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Movie?<\/h2>\n

While a FNAF 2 Movie hasn’t been confirmed, it’s very possible that Blumhouse could endeavor to make another Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie<\/strong>. Those involved with the film have spoken optimistically about the possibility of another movie in the series.<\/p>\n

On the WeeklyMTG Podcast, Matthew Lillard spoke about his role in the film, mentioning that he’s signed on with Blumhouse and Universal for a “three-picture deal.”<\/strong> Lillard’s contract suggests that there might even be a Five Nights at Freddy’s 3 film coming up sometime in the future.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Variety, Five Nights at Freddy’s director Emma Tammi also expressed interest in a potential sequel, stating, “We’re definitely excited to keep making more movies in this world<\/strong>, should we be lucky enough to do that.”<\/p>\n

Tammi explained that since the first film was tied into the first games<\/a>, later movies would likely tie into their respective games, too; for example, a second FNAF movie would follow Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.  “But anything could happen; we’ll have to see,” Tammi added.<\/p>\n

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Movie Release Date<\/h2>\n

As of November 2023, there’s no set release date for the FNAF 2 Movie. The first movie is still in theaters, so it’ll probably be a while before we hear news of Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, even if producers have shown interest in working on it. <\/p>\n

That said, a 2024 release date<\/strong> could absolutely be a possibility; given the success of the first film<\/a>, filmmakers will definitely be motivated to get to work on the sequel – and perhaps even more films in the franchise – as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Movie Cast & Characters<\/h2>\n

According to FNAF movie director Emma Tammi, the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 movie will likely follow the story of the second game, so we’ll likely see characters from that title – including Bonnie, Chica, Freddy, and Foxy, and perhaps other animatronics like Mangle and Balloon Boy. <\/p>\n

We’ll also more than likely see (spoilers) Matthew Lillard as Springtrap<\/strong> in FNAF 2. Considering Lillard’s “three-picture” deal with Blumhouse and Universal, it’s pretty much certain we’ll see him return as Springtrap in the sequel. The movie sets itself up for a sequel containing Lillard as Spingtrap, too, given its vague ending. However, in the Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 game, Springtrap doesn’t have much of a role (he’s only visible rotting in a side room), so it’s unclear as to what role he’d play in the film adaptation.<\/p>\n

As for Josh Hutcherson, who plays Mike Schmidt, it’s less clear as to whether he’ll return in the sequel. The second Five Nights at Freddy’s game has its own security guard, Jeremy Fitzgerald,<\/strong> so it’s possible that producers could introduce viewers to Fitzgerald rather than having Schmidt make a return. If Hutcherson doesn’t make a return, it’s unlikely that his sister Abby Schmidt (Piper Rubio) will, either.<\/p>\n

Will Markiplier Be In Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Movie?<\/h2>\n

Many fans were disappointed to find out that while FNAF’s producers were interested in bringing Markiplier onto the project, a scheduling conflict with his own film rendered him unable to participate. However, it seems pretty likely that Markiplier could be in Five Nights at Freddy’s 2.<\/p>\n

“Mark is a part of this franchise through and through,” said Tammi in her interview with Variety. “We reached out and we all hoped to make it work. Unfortunately, we were filming at the same time Markiplier was filming his film, and the scheduling didn’t work out for this one.
