Now content creators on Twitter are getting hit as well, as streamer iMopar found, claiming that he had been hit with &#8220;several DMCA strikes&#8221; for old clips in his timeline.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iMoparHD\/status\/1272894867178479616\">\n<blockquote align=\"center\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">I just got hit with several DMCA strikes at once on Twitter from some really old clips&#8230; &#128531;<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Mopar&#129304;&#127996; #&#120394;&#120407;&#120410;&#120430;&#120392;&#120420;&#120421;&#120406;&#120423; (@iMoparHD) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/iMoparHD\/status\/1272894867178479616?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">June 16, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This doesn&rsquo;t seem to be an isolated case. YouTube and Twitch have already taken action against copyright infringement, and Twitter is in the process of following in their footsteps. Twitter videos found in violation of the policy seem to have been removed from the platform, while the account owners were given a list of the infringing videos as well as their encapsulating posts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div data-oembed-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Foone\/status\/1062592074376110083\">\n<blockquote align=\"center\" class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-conversation=\"none\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">that tweet is here:<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Bb4svy2OhF\">https:\/\/t.co\/Bb4svy2OhF<\/a><\/p>\n<p>it&#8217;s still up, they just disabled the video.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; foone (@Foone) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Foone\/status\/1062592074376110083?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 14, 2018<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async=\"\" charset=\"utf-8\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\"><\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.copyright.gov\/legislation\/dmca.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">DMCA act<\/a>, established in 1998 and signed into law by former President Bill Clinton, wasn&rsquo;t built for an era of content creation. The intent was to create a set of copyright laws that would address the digital aspect of copyright. Since then, the amount of content on the internet has vastly expanded and the DMCA is seen by more and more people as being out of date.
