On 5 December 2023, the Counter-Strike 2 (CS2)<\/a> community started noticing bans for no apparent reason. This even affected some unlucky professional players, and there was quite a bit of uproar. <\/p>\n

Thankfully, Valve has stepped in to fix these mistaken CS2 bans quickly, noting how a rollback is in progress. Here’s what we know about the issue.<\/p>\n

Valve’s Counter-Strike dev team didn’t mention exactly why these false bans occurred, and while complaints flooded Twitter (X), the exact number of players affected remains a mystery.<\/p>\n

The developer took to Twitter to explain that something went wrong with the update on 4 December: <\/p>\n

Yesterday’s update mistakenly triggered game bans.  We’ve fixed the issue and ban rollbacks are in progress.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

While the exact cause is unknown, the speculation running around the community is that the bans had something to do with NVIDIA or AMD graphics drivers, with players from both the red and green camps affected.<\/p>\n

Even professional players, such as M80’s Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa were affected, who didn’t hold back on Twitter following a false ban.<\/p>\n
