In ARK Survival Ascended<\/a>, tames play a crucial role, allowing you to withstand intense encounters, confront bosses, and navigate the Island effortlessly. The Yutyrannus holds a special significance among survivors, often regarded as the ideal Tame for engaging in battle against other creatures, players, or island guardians\/bosses.<\/span><\/p>\n

If your goal is to confront powerful creatures and bosses, the Yutyrannus is the perfect choice. This guide will show you exactly how to find and easily tame the Yutyrannus, adding this formidable creature to your ranks in ARK Survival Ascended.<\/span><\/p>\n

How To Find the <\/span>Yutyrannus <\/span>in ARK Survival Ascended<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Yutyrannus, also simply called the Yuty in the ARK community, is a powerful theropod said to be closely related to the T-Rex, but with some notable differences (more on that later). It’s located mainly in the mountainous regions of the island (similar to the T-Rex) but is more commonly found in the northern tundra areas as shown below.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you’re struggling to find one, you can use console commands<\/a> to reset the spawns, or you can simply spawn one freshly, letting you dictate the level of Yuty you want as well. You’ll want to find one since it sports some unique abilities that any survivor can utilize for enemy encounters, but specifically, they work well for boss fights.<\/span><\/p>\n

Aesthetically, the Yuty is slightly smaller than a T-Rex and possesses feathers, but where it shines is its mechanical usage, as it uses a Fear roar<\/strong> that gives a Fear debuff<\/a> to the targets, reducing their damage resistance and Melee Damage by 50%. Then, it can also use a Courage roar<\/strong> on your allies or other tames which gives a Courage buff to the allies, increasing their damage resistance by 20% and their Melee Damage by 25%.<\/span><\/p>\n

The courage roar is especially useful in boss fights where you have a team of dinos going into the arena, and makes the Yuty super useful against any of the four bosses of the game (The Broodmother<\/a>, Megapithecus<\/a>, Dragon<\/a>, or Overseer<\/a>). The Fear roar is more broadly applicable and especially useful in PvP, since if the fear percentage reaches 100% the creature gets Terror debuff, making the same effects as Fear but also making the creature lose control and start running around randomly, and the creature’s rider unable to control its mount, all for 20 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n

How To Tame the<\/span>Yutyrannus <\/span>in ARK Survival Ascended<\/span><\/h2>\n

Now that you know how to find the Yuty as well as its broader utility in the game, let’s discuss the best methods for taming it, which there are a few, depending on the resources you have available. The first method is fairly simple and requires that you lead the Yuty to a cliff, letting it fall, and as it attempts to reach you, you can shoot it with tranquilizers of your choosing<\/a> until it goes down.<\/span><\/p>\n

Flying tames<\/a> such as the Tapejara or a Quetzal can also be useful if you want to tame it from a safe distance, but its fear roar can be problematic, so the best method we’ve found is using a trap. To set one up, you can create a foundation and use stone doorframes as walls (which you can block with gates if you want) and place a large bear trap inside<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Then place ramps at one side so you can lure the Yutyrannus into the cage by using a flyer or simply by running, and once it’s trapped, you can easily shoot it with Tranqs without putting yourself in danger, but be sure to kill any other dinos surrounding the Yuty first. This is arguably the best method as it removes the danger of getting fear-debuffed or getting into a direct fight with the Yuty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once the Yuty is knocked out, you can feed it some Kibble <\/a>or any meat (though Raw Mutton<\/a> works best) and it will eventually be tamed and ready to fight for your team. <\/span>So there you have it, a quick and concise guide on how to find and tame the Yutyrannus in ARK Survival Ascended.
