 Regarded as the apex predator of the island in ARK Survival Ascended<\/a>, the Tyrannosaurus Rex, or T-Rex for short, is undoubtedly a dinosaur you’ll want on your team for its well-balanced stats and utility as a raid\/boss melter. However, capturing one can be challenging, as you need to knock this beast out, and doing so without risking your life is nearly impossible.<\/span><\/p>\n

Almost is the key word here, as there is a method to tame a T-Rex with minimal risk to yourself by constructing a trap for it. This guide is precisely here to assist with that. Below, you can find a detailed breakdown of how to build a T-Rex trap in ARK Survival Ascended.<\/span><\/p>\n

How to Build a T-Rex Trap in ARK Survival Ascended<\/span><\/h2>\n

If you’ve checked out our T-Rex taming guide here<\/a>, then you’ll know why capturing one can be extremely useful for your journey in ARK Survival Ascended. However, you’ll also know that taming one can be dangerous work. Luckily, the trap we’re building takes most, if not all, of the danger out of doing so and can give you a clean and easy way to knock this beast out and tame it easily.<\/span><\/p>\n

To get started with building the trap, you’ll need only one kind of resource: pillars. Any kind of pillar will work, although we suggest stone or better. Once you have a handful, roughly 12, you’re ready to build it. Start the structure by placing one pillar down and raising it as far up as it will go, then place another one on top of it, and finally, two more at a right angle to those on each side, creating a large T-shape as shown in the image above.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now you can place pillars running parallel to each other on each end of the T-shaped structure, creating a prong-looking structure where we’ll lead the Rex. Finally, place a bear trap<\/a> at the foot of the ground pillar on the side that the prong is facing, and now we’re ready to trap a wild Tyrannosaurus Rex.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once you find a wild rex, lead it back to the trap and towards the bear trap to activate it and hold the T-Rex in place. Now we can go ahead and use pillars to connect the two prong ends of our structure around the T-Rex, and because it cannot escape through the space left behind, it will effectively be trapped and cannot move.<\/span><\/p>\n

Once trapped, it’s in the perfect position for you to hit it with as many tranquilizers<\/a> as you want until it gets knocked out, and you can feed it the desired taming food (Any Raw Meat or Kibble<\/a>) to begin the taming process. This is an extremely easy method to use, and due to the size of the structure, little kiting is needed to draw the rex into the trap, and the only thing to consider is how fast you can close it off once trapped.<\/span><\/p>\n
