In what’s become a hotly anticipated collaboration, Epic Games has announced<\/a> that they’re teaming up with Disney for a brand new partnership which will extend into games and entertainment. Most notably, the collaboration will see Disney make its way into the Fortnite<\/a> universe.<\/p>\n

What this means is anyone’s guess at this point, but it’s likely we’ll start to see more and more Disney IPs creep into the Fortnite Item Shop rotation at the very least. So if you’re excited for the prospect of more having more Disney representation in Fortnite, here’s when we can expect things to begin kicking off.<\/p>\n

When Does the Fortnite x Disney Collaboration Start?<\/h2>\n

One thing we know is that this collaboration between Epic Games and Disney will extend beyond the standard battle royale experience. In an announcement, the two companies stated that this “new persistent universe” will offer “a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more.”<\/p>\n

That said, it seems we might not see too much of the collaboration this early. In fact, Disney’s CEO Robert A. Iger was quoted<\/a> saying that the Fortnite x Disney universe would launch “maybe in a couple of years.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

We’ve already seen a number of Disney IPs make their way into Fortnite, such as through the Star Wars and Marvel crossovers. Epic Games’ Unreal Engine has also been used across a number of Disney game products, such as Kingdom Hearts 3 and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.<\/p>\n

“Disney was one of the first companies to believe in the potential of bringing their worlds together with ours in Fortnite, and they use Unreal Engine across their portfolio,” said Tim Sweeney, CEO and Founder, Epic Games. “Now we’re collaborating on something entirely new to build a persistent, open and interoperable ecosystem that will bring together the Disney and Fortnite communities.”<\/p>\n

So while we might not see the full universe spring to life just yet, players can likely expect Disney to be working with Epic Games in other ways, and for more in-game crossovers to appear in Fortnite. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
