Want to jump into the exciting time-traveling ARPG and save the world of Eterra? Sure, you do, but you might be wondering if Last Epoch is free or if you will have to open your wallet…

Let’s discuss how much, if anything, it will cost PC gamers via Steam to join us in Eterra to uncover its past and reforge its future, all while gathering a tonne of loot and building a unique character thanks to Last Epoch‘s expansive and intricate character progression system.

No, Last Epoch is not a free game. It is a buy-to-play ARPG experience of great quality, with a plethora of content from developer Eleventh Hour Games.

The lowest barrier of entry is the Standard Edition, which you can purchase on Steam right now for $34.99. This provides you with the full experience, with no in-game content such as quests, classes, characters, or anything else that could impact gameplay locked behind a higher version paywall.

All future content, including updates and expansions, is free if you own Last Epoch. The developers explained their plans, stating:

Our current plan is for future content for Last Epoch is to be included with the box price and will be supported through the optional MTX store. We want to avoid any sort of expansion pack box prices that may result in splitting up players. As such we intend to offer all future content free of charge.

Here’s some very good news for you. Last Epoch is not pay-to-win, and never will be. Players cannot purchase any type of advantage. The only additional purchases are cosmetic, with absolutely no impact on gameplay.

The developers made their stance clear since launch in Early Access roughly five years ago, stating:

Last Epoch will never offer gameplay advantages by being able to spend real money. We believe in creating a fair environment for all players.

There are three Edition of Last Epoch that you can purchase, namely Standard, Deluxe and Ultimate. You’ll find the pricing of each Edition below, alongside the bonus cosmetic content you will receive.

All the items will be unlocked on 21 February 2024 when Last Epoch launches, except for the Full Original Digital Soundtrack, which will be made available sometime after the 1.0 update.

While you decide to open your wallet (or not) to play Last Epoch, check out the game’s awesome launch trailer, giving you a taste of the time-traveling ARPG from Eleventh Hour Games.

Table of Contents
