Acclaimed video gaming auteur Hideo Kojima has gained popularity online for his thoughtful yet critical reviews of films<\/a> and television shows he has recently seen. Moreover, over the last few months, he has shared his appreciation and, at times, criticisms for what he had seen, and this week, he shared a rather interesting review for the Marvel Studios’ series Moon Knight<\/a>, which caught the attention on social media.<\/p>\n

Having recently collaborated with Disney on the global distribution of his documentary Connecting Worlds<\/a>, Kojima seemingly started with Moon Knight, which isn’t the first time he reviewed an MCU project. While Kojima has yet to watch the entire season of the MCU series, he “immediately watched the first episode” when his documentary was released, and his review caused confusion with his interesting choice of words.<\/p>\n

The video gaming auteur shared his review for the Oscar Isaac-led Marvel series on Twitter on 27th February 2024, in which Kojima stated that he “held out” on the series until it was released on Blu-Ray. Kojima, who is a fan of the actor, gave the series high praise, calling it “a surprise” after watching the first episode<\/a>, as he expressed his enthusiasm for wanting to watch Moon Knight.<\/p>\n

“This is so original! The artwork, the world, the direction, the pacing! It’s unlike any hero movie I’ve ever seen,” Kojima wrote in a Twitter post. However, what followed left fans of Kojima’s series hilariously perplexed was his comment on the portrayal of the character Steven Grant, commenting that he “had never imagined such a pathetic and unattractive Oscar Isaac.”<\/p>\n

He followed this, commenting that this portrayal “is the good thing” while praising the actor for taking on a challenging role, concluding that the casting was “excellent casting” and that he was “looking forward to seeing more.” The comments in response to Kojima’s review saw many respecting his critical thoughts on the series, with many providing suggestions to multiple Moon Knight comics to read and even recommending watching the Werewolf by Night special<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As expected, following Kojima’s bizarrely glowing review of Moon Knight, many fans online have reiterated that the series was one of Marvel Studios’ stronger projects released, alongside WandaVision and Loki. The show, which formed part of MCU’s Phase 4, has been highly criticized for its inconsistency, lack of connection between its films and TV series, and treatment of its Visual Effects (VFX) artists<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Despite this, audiences have appeared to enjoy the Moon Knight series and wondered when the titular character will be seen in the MCU after the season concluded in May 2022. Since then, they have called on Marvel Studios to greenlight a second season<\/a>, in light of Kojima giving his stamp of approval and Moon Knight director Mohamed Diab’s comments in 2023<\/a> on the potential of a second season, which he wishes to explore Jake Lockley<\/a>, who appeared in the final episode’s post-credit scene<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
