We love playing Capcom’s new open-world RPG, and despite some issues, we gave Dragon’s Dogma 2 a 5 out of 5 in our review<\/a>. It is a GOTY contender, but you should expect some performance issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Capcom is aware of at least some of the performance issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and even provided IGN with a statement<\/a> about the lower-than-expected frame rate, explaining the situation:<\/p>\n

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, a large amount of CPU usage is allocated to each character and dynamically calculates the impact of their physical presence in various environments. In certain situations where numerous characters appear simultaneously, the CPU usage can be very high and may affect the frame rate. We are aware that in such situations, settings that reduce GPU load may currently have a limited effect; however, we are looking into ways to improve performance in the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

During our Dragon’s Dogma 2 review period on the Xbox Series X, we experienced some rather hefty frame-rate drops in towns and sometimes when meeting a party of NPC adventurers and taking on a big enemy together. <\/p>\n

While it is nice to know it’s not your gaming rig or console, and Capcom is looking into it, that doesn’t change the fact that you shouldn’t expect a super-smooth experience when jumping into Dragon’s Dogma 2 at launch. Hopefully, the developers will release an update to alleviate some or all of the low FPS issues.<\/p>\n
