The Pokémon Company has officially announced the dates for its major competitive tournament, Pokémon World Championships, which takes place every August. This year’s edition will take place in the Aloha State of Hawai’i at the Hawai’i Convention Center in Honolulu<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pokémon Worlds will see major events for multiple titles, including Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO<\/a>, and Pokémon UNITE<\/a>, to name and feature some of the best players competing in these titles from around the world. This event is slated to take place over three days from 16th to 18th August 2024<\/strong>, with official event details being released.<\/p>\n

The Pokémon World Championships was announced as the 2024 Pokémon Europe International Championships (EUIC) concluded at ExCeL London this past weekend. As the best players compete for “the title of Pokémon World Champion,” they’ll also be battling for the prize pool of $2 million and return invitations for next year’s Worlds event in August 2025.<\/p>\n

Players qualifying for Worlds 2024 will earn Championship points by competing in events throughout the Championship season. According to the official Worlds 2024 event page<\/a>, players participating in Pokémon TCG, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon VGC must have “hit a threshold of Championship Points” to receive an invite, while UNITE players “must finish near the top of the Championship Points rankings in their rating zone.”<\/p>\n

These Championship Points are determined on their “geographical rating zone and age division” as more details for the Pokémon UNITE event will be released in the coming weeks or months. The Pokémon Company has made some exceptions for players in the Asia-Pacific region, Japan, and South Korea, as they’ll get invitations determined on their region’s “organized play and esports programs” and not through Championship Points or immediate invites from winning their Regional and\/or Internationship Championship events.<\/p>\n

Lastly, players who qualify for the event’s Travel Stipend and Award values will receive the default amounts before or after Worlds 2024, as these values are determined by the players’ age, region of residence, and event region. They can check these details from their Play! Pokémon accounts, players from South Africa are the only confirmed country that does not qualify for the Travel Stipend and Award.<\/p>\n
