Developer Rare is still putting together the final preparations for their biggest launch to date for their action-adventure game Sea of Thieves. The game heading to PlayStation 5 consoles in April 2024 is celebrating yet another incredible milestone with some Grog to mark the occasion.

Following the recent Closed Beta testing, the game has now seen 40 million pirates traverse the Sea of Thieves for glory, honor, and, yes, Gold. The game first launched for Xbox One consoles and Windows PC in March 2018, becoming one of a few Xbox-exclusive titles to launch through the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.

Since its release, Sea of Thieves has released 11 Seasons, which brought unique gameplay features, new cosmetics, events, and more lore and worldbuilding, enriching the world of Sea of Thieves. The game’s developer has also partnered with popular IPs for crossover events like Banjo-Kazooie, Pirates of the Caribbean, Monkey Island, and Borderlands, adding new quests, themed cosmetics, and characters in-game.
