Sackboy’s epic platforming journey comes to a conclusive end as Sony revealed the fate of the LittleBigPlanet series over the weekend. According to a statement on PlayStation’s support page<\/a>, the PlayStation 4 exclusive puzzle platformer, LittleBigPlanet 3, has officially had its servers taken down.<\/p>\n

The statement was then shared with the official LittleBigPlanet social media accounts, highlighting key details, including gameplay features and user-generated content (UGC). The shocking decision came as the puzzle platformer had been experiencing a myriad of technical issues before the servers were temporarily brought down in January 2024.<\/p>\n

As detailed in the statement on the PlayStation support page and various social media accounts, players have been advised that “all online services, including access to other players’ creations for LittleBigPlanet 3, are no longer available.” LittleBigPlanet players have issued their concerns regarding  being unable to access UGC, with one player writing on Reddit<\/a> that years’ worth of content is now “locked away forever with no way to experience them again.”<\/p>\n

With players unable to access UGC through online capabilities, If their UGC has been “stored locally” on their PlayStation 4 consoles, it will still remain accessible to them. Furthermore, players are noted that all UGC they’ve created will remain playable on their PlayStation 4 consoles, but due to online capabilities being taken down, it cannot be shared, and only offline gameplay features will remain.<\/p>\n

The news surrounding the decommissioning of LittleBigPlanet 3’s servers comes after the studio behind the puzzle platformer, Media Molecule, saw its curation team being laid off.
