(Picture: Shane \/ Archthrones Team)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">*All first-phase attacks persist during her second phase*<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Illusionary Strikes<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: After her phase transition (and then randomly throughout the second phase), Janara disappears into a fog of snow, and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">then<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;5&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">illusory versions of her will spawn near you and execute a different attack (each of her clones is invulnerable).&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Frost Leap Strike<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: Similar to the leap strike attack, but upon landing, Janara will thrust her halberd into the ground and cause a burst of frost crystals to appear and then explode, dealing damage and frost buildup.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Frost Combo<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: Janara performs a combo (strike, then overhead heavy<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">),<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and concludes it<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;with a retreat swipe and follow-up swipe that both let loose a wave of frost damage.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Frost Slam<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: Janara will raise her halberd&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">summoning<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;frost crystals around her that&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">then<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;explode as she slams the halberd into the ground.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Frost Burst<\/span><\/strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">: Janara will unleash a burst of frost damage from her seemingly broken arm and helmet that sprays out towards you and deals heavy frostbite buildup&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">as well as<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;a decent chunk of damage.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"mcetoc_1hs7v7gh3b\"><strong><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Janara One-Eye Boss Tips<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As you can see, Janara boasts&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">an incredibly wide<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;array of attacks to use, and the main concern with dealing with them is&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">the fact<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;that she can weave any of them together as she sees fit.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;makes her difficult to predict, and if you&#8217;re familiar with the fights in any of the Souls games, you&#8217;ll know that learning the boss&#8217;s moves is paramount to defeating them, which makes Janara particularly hard to overcome.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/HDnKkuHY2eBxPpKH20R-j_V-ruS7SbYdaeCiFQ7RhAY\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMy82NjI3YmI4YjkwNDZiLURhcmtTb3Vsc0FyY2h0aHJvbmVzSmFuYXJhT25lRXllQm9zc0ZpZ2h0Q29tYm9UaXBzLmpwZw\" alt=\"Dark Souls Archthrones Janara One Eye Boss General tips\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">For her first phase, stay a medium distance from Janara, and only attack after her longer combos, but be ready to back away quickly as she can gap close and use attacks like her Hurricane Strike. (Picture: Shane \/ Archthrones Team)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">What I&#8217;ve found is that instead of trying to counter between combos (unless you have&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">a really quick<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;strike with a short sword or&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">rapier<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">)<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, instead<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, wait for her to do any of her heavier combos or slower combos before retaliating and punishing. Ultimately, you&#8217;ll need to be&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">extremely patient for<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;these windows as she gets more aggressive as the fight goes on&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;these windows become shorter and shorter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Ultimately, though, as long as you can avoid getting too close to Janara and give yourself space to dodge her&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">wide<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;swipe attacks as well as the hurricane (which is just a brutal attack to deal with if you&#8217;re close to her), you can confidently get her down to half health without taking too much damage. It&#8217;s here, though, that phase two&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">begins,<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;and where&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">you&#8217;re going to<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;need to keep up with her.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/b8vIoKSihfBZndvHIvqrxwC8-dMKrWVG4zSuNFJCbN4\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMy82NjI3YmI2ZGFkYmU0LURhcmtTb3Vsc0FyY2h0aHJvbmVzSmFuYXJhT25lRXllQm9zc0ZpZ2h0U2Vjb25kUGhhc2VUaXBzLmpwZw\" alt=\"Dark Souls Archthrones Janara One Eye Boss Second phase tips\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">During her second phase, you&#8217;ll want to steer clear of the frost AoE attacks and illusionary forms, only closing in when she&#8217;s performing a heavier combo as this leaves her in a vulnerable cooldown. (Picture: Shane \/ Archthrones Team)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The opening for phase two will always be the illusionary strikes, and I&#8217;ve found that the best way to deal with this is&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">to&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">just<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;run away<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;gives you space to dodge all five of the strikes coming from the clones, but also, once the final clone&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">does<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;its attack, it takes Janara a while to reappear, giving you time to heal or reposition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">This phase is ultimately similar to the first phase, but now you need to watch for those ice attacks as they have an AoE (area of effect), meaning that even if you&#8217;re in mid-range of Janara, she can still hit you with these. So, you&#8217;ll want to give her as much space as&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">you can<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;and bait out her&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">normal<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;combos to give yourself space to close in and attack, then back away to safety.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"img-figure\" contenteditable=\"false\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%;\" contenteditable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-cf.ginx.tv\/imgcdn\/gSguX3T09a9hi8jQiXs_kMQucH5v6DJOi02FukV638g\/rs:fill:0:0:1\/g:ce\/aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ2lueC50di91cGxvYWRzMy82NjI3YmI2ZGFiNzVlLURhcmtTb3Vsc0FyY2h0aHJvbmVzSmFuYXJhT25lRXllQm9zc0ZpZ2h0RGVmZWF0aW5nSmFuYXJhLmpwZw\" alt=\"Dark Souls Archthrones Janara One Eye Boss Defeating her\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption contenteditable=\"false\">Following these tips, you should be prepared (at least technically) to take down Janara, but this fight takes some time to clear, so be prepared to die a few times before she falls. (Picture: Shane \/ Archthrones Team)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">You should also consider parrying some of her strikes if possible, but due to their speed (and when she slows them down purposefully), it can be hard to time just right, but it&#8217;s worth a try if you&#8217;re confident. From here, you&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">simply<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;need to avoid the frost attacks as much as possible as they stack up frostbite quickly&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">and<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;if<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;you have a build with no cold resistances (like I did), then you&#8217;re going to become tissue paper in terms of your damage absorption when frostbitten, so take care to avoid these at all costs as her&nbsp;<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">normal<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">&nbsp;attacks can at least be dodged, blocked, and parried.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">So keep these tips in mind, and learn her attack telegraphings to know when it&#8217;s safe to engage and when you should back away. Play this fight safe, and even if it takes you many attempts, with a bit of luck and understanding of her moves, you&#8217;ll eventually bring down Janara One-Eye.
